Stephanie Williams Newest Release

Please welcome the Author Who Dabbles In Erotica, and my good friend Stephanie Williams. Steph thanks for answering these questions today about your latest book Lectures In Discipline and telling the readers what they want to know. Ready? Here we go.

1. Lectures In Discipline ventures into a new area for you. Can you tell the readers a little about why you decided to write a story in the BDSM genre?

Wow. To be perfectly honest, the more books I read, the more fascinated I got about the whole world of BDSM. It’s something how these couples put so much trust into each other that they engage in things that you and I might consider a bit—out of the norm.

Now, some of us engage in some sort for of BDSM, for example playing cops and robbers and using handcuff. That’s role-play. But BDSM can take it a bit further and ironically it’s called ‘play’.  So the more I read, the more I wanted to write my own story. I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could successfully write about an unconventional relationship in a loving and honest way.

2. Did you do any research? The truth. We want to know. lol

LOL. Like I mentioned earlier. I read a lot of books. Some were hardcore BDSM, others were softer, a bit tamer you might say. I looked at sites on the Internet too. I asked a couple that’s in the life, in fact I make a dedication to them. Come to think of it, I was a lot like Tina in the book.  Curious and looking for answers. LOL.

3. Peter was a very interesting Dom. A nerdy professor on the outside but behind closed doors he was well...something entirely different. Who was your inspiration for him?

Now that is real interesting. He’s actually a professor I know. I went to a lecture of his years ago. He was nerdy looking, but yet sexy. And I would sit there and wonder: “Yeah, he looks like a nerd, but I bet he’s Batman at night, or he’s tying up women in his basement. LOL.

It’s the classic, it’s the ones that you don’t suspect that are the freaks! LOL!

4. Have you ever been handcuffed? (thought I'd sneak that one in lol)

I so plead the 5th. LOL

5. Tina was also an interesting character. Did you have a muse for her too?

She is a composite of a lot of women. I think somewhere deep inside, women like the man that beats his chest and says: “Me man, you woman.”  So she has that need, but takes it to another level with the BDSM aspect.

She’s a woman in power, she owns her own business and goes back to school after a long hiatus, but she wants that Masters because she wants to teach. She has a lot on her plate and she’s willing to give up some sort of  control behind closed doors.

6. Tina in her everyday life doesn't come off as a submissive. Do you think women are just by nature submissive?

Like I said earlier, I think it’s primal. Especially now in this day and age. We as women have more on our plate. We have an ‘S’ on our chest and so many people depend on us. So I think it’s natural that we want to give up some control and have someone to take some of that control.

7. Can you explain a little about the dom/sub relationship for those who don't have a clue?

Whoa. I don’t think I’m a scholar on that subject, but I’ll try to explain what it’s not.
It’s not one person beating someone into submission. It’s not humiliation for humiliation sake. It’s not having someone being a slave 24/7. It’s not making one fear the other and making them do things out of  that fear.

What it is, is a loving, trusting relationship where consenting adults engage in play and feed off each other. One giving over control and the other taking that control but not abusing the trust.

Does it include spanking and paddling? Yes. It also includes, needle play, medical play, and wax play. One can take it as far as they want, but that agreement is between the parties involved and it’s understood, not to stray unless they have a meeting of the minds.

8. Have  you ever been to a BDSM Club?

No, but I have read about them, and some people that are in the life have told me about them. I do plan to make a trip to one, however.

9. Chains or Rope?

Chains. Rope makes me itch. LOL!

10. Anything else you'd like to let us know, like your next work?

Well, first, Peter and Tina are planning on giving individual interviews. So look out for them, I’ll announce them on my Facebook page.  Also, Lectures In Discipline is part of the Freaky Geek Series. My next book is titled Office Play. It’s about that IT guy in the office. This one’s not the geek you think he is either. LOL

11. Where can you fans reach you?

Lectures in Discipline
BLURB:
There’s something dark and dangerous lurking beneath the nerdy exterior of Professor Peter Greenly, and Tina Kelly has a need a man like that could fulfill, but graduation comes and goes without him noticing the willing co-ed in his Sociology class.
Returning to Piedmont College as an associate professor, Tina takes her destiny in hand and lets her former teacher know she’s interested in learning a whole new subject. One she’s only read about in books and on the Internet.
Professor Greenly has waited two and a half years for this, and agrees to her request, but if Tina wants this Dom’s private tutoring, she’s going to have to go far outside her comfort zone. His kind of teaching cannot be found on any college syllabus. But will he take her too far?

EXCERPT:

“I like your necklace. As usual, it’s a bit over the top.” He reached over and flicked the chains. They bounced heavily on her collarbone.
“Thanks. I bought it this weekend.”
“Nice.”
He ran his hand up and over the piece. He seemed to be studying it; committing it to memory. His fingers then made contact with her skin. She sucked in her breath as his fingers sent electricity to her flesh.
“You okay?”
His voice took on that deep huskiness that made her panties wet every time. All she could do was nod.
“Good.” He walked around to the other side of her desk. Hands on his hips as he looked down at her.
She was shaking. “Um…I picked this up to match a few outfits I have.” Damn! Why couldn’t she just come right out and say she bought it for him? For him to admire on her neck; an offering of herself to him as it were.
“I see. Strange choice of jewelry. But who am I to critique women’s fashion.” He turned up the wattage on that smile.
She laughed nervously and turned back to her computer. “Have fun at your conference. I’m scheduled to go next week, so you can give me a—”
“I like that padlock. Does it have a key?”
Her hands froze over her keyboard. “Ex…excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
Not taking her eyes off his steely gaze, she reached down for her purse, and then got the key out of her cosmetic case.
Without a word, he stuck out his hand and she gently placed it in his palm. He took it without looking at it and put it in his pocket.
“I take great notes, so I got you covered. These meetings are very boring, they usually go over the next quarters’ agenda.”
He didn’t skip a beat. Instead of saying something, she just went along with the conversation. “They start this early talking about next quarter?”
“Yep, in fact, by the end of this week, you should have the schedule for the classes you’re teaching emailed to you. You can get a hard copy, plus other materials from the office later.”
“Wow. Okay then.”
He smiled at her, then turned to leave. Once he got to the door he stopped and turned around to face her one more time. “By they way. Don’t wear that collar again until Friday.”

Loving Day Blog Tour

When it comes to relationships our society has come very far, but we still have a ways to go to truly embrace the concept that love can come in many different sizes, many different shapes, colors and forms.

I write contemporary, fantasy and sci/fi romances featuring interracial characters. I also write romantic suspense and new adult under Ursula Sinclair. I believe among consenting adults, no one has the right to tell you or dictate who you should or shouldn't love or indulge with for mutual satisfaction. lol What I  try to showcase in my work is the loving relationships that can exist between a man and a woman really have nothing to do with race, but who that person is inside. Love should be about who you are as a person and not what society perceives you to be. My stories don't make race an issue, because it should not be one in the affairs of the heart. Is that everyones reality? Probably not, but it is mine and the way I like to write my romances. I usually have too many other issues going on. lol

For me the color of love is not just one color but the colors that you see when the sun hits water just right and those colors arch up to touch the sky. Two things necessary for that effect is sun and water. Just as in a relationship all that's required is those individuals trying to establish one. All others merely need to butt out.

In tribute to the Lovings and their legacy, my work honors you.

Dragon's Heart Story of the Brethren- A fantasy interracial romance

Over a thousand years ago Draakar was forced to leave Earth, now he has no choice but to return. The dragon lord, whose world teeters on the brink of destruction, must find his truemate. The one woman with the power and love fated to save them all. The woman he left behind.

Maya Trent was abandoned on Earth, apparently human but so much more and unaware of her duel heritage. Once Draakar awakens her dragon within all she wants to do is kill him. Yet they must work together to save mankind as well as the brethren. But first Draakar has to convince her that the truemate bond between them is real, as is his love for her. She just has to believe in him.

Decisions Decisions

My youngest daughter is in an interesting dilemma. She got into every school she applied to, College of Charleston (don't know why she applied here), Boston University, Tulane, Fordham, University of Virginia, and Georgetown. She's narrowed them down now to UVA and GT. Of course her dad and I are insisting on UVA. It's only about 2 hours from home and you can not beat in-state tuition. UVA is also an excellent school ranked NO. 1 or 2 of best public universities in the country and ranked NO. 24 over all. Yes GT is ranked higher but the quality of the education she'll receive at UVA is just as good. Plus she wants to go to law school so she can always go to GT then. Still at times I think what the hell do you mean my baby is old enough to start college in the fall! What frigging nightmare is this!

We didn't have the same issue with my oldest. She knew exactly where she wanted to go. She applied early decision to one school got in and by Dec. we were done. All good. Although I was in denial then too right up until we dropped her at school. But they're two different people so two different problems.

So again we enter into a different stage of our family life. The dynamics of the family has changed with my oldest away at school and it's getting ready to change again when the youngest leaves. These are exciting times for my daughters as well as my husband and me as we watch our children fly.

The trick for me will be in letting go. So far I'm not doing too badly. They managed to talk me into letting them go parasailing. For the second time. The first time it took 30 minutes of arguing. This time they're two years older and it only took ten minuets. Plus the oldest didn't need my permission. But I didn't feel faint this time when I watched them in this shot. Let me explain, you see when I look at them I see them as they are in the shot above. So can you blame me.

Diamonds & Divas Tour -Missy Lyons

Feb 8th

Hi everyone! My name’s Missy Lyons and today I am guest blogging on LaVerne Thompson’s blog. Thank you so much for having me out for the day! Like LaVerne I am a writer. I love the land of make believe and it’s been great to be able to make a career from the books I write. I write romance and the heat can vary on everything from sweet to melt the sheets.

ALIEN PROMISE, the latest book which I plan to talk about today is an erotic mĆ©nage (m/f/m) between a girl and the aliens who love her. You might be thinking, whoa, that’s a lot of bodies. Is it the sex that is driving the story? Um no—but it’s a nice side effect and a big part of why they like each other. Sex is part of romance and a healthy part of falling in love and it’s in my story. But the characters are what really drive the story. Would you like to know a little more about them?

Lily Madison is just an earth girl who is so wrapped up in her earth life that she doesn’t see past it. It’s hard to believe the two blue men she meets are aliens. They have to be there because of publicity stunt. Lily Madison has always considered herself kind of geeky, and never the kind of girl to garner the attention of two sexy hunks who are out of this world hot. She has straight auburn hair with red highlights that she always wears in a French twist at the back of her neck, in a librarian style, finished with large brimmed glasses that cover up her beautiful green eyes. The warriors can see beyond her clothes and the beauty that lies within and there is no doubt, they want to possess her.

Saber Rhoma is exceptionally tall at seven foot six inches and built like a pro wrestler. He has light blue skin tinted by the ultra violet rays of his sun and while he is on the planet earth it has faded until he returns to his home planet. He’s a Krillian soldier and acts the part of a warrior. When he sees something he wants, he just takes it, especially when it’s a beautiful woman with ripe curves, hair the color of his red sun and green blue eyes that a man could lose himself in. He has waist length hair that is kept in a braid and a tribal tattoo on his left shoulder.

Ryder Rhoma is the twin brother to Saber with shoulder length brown hair and blue skin. His hazel eyes change color with his emotions, and when he is deep in lust they glow a brilliant shade of amber. He is also a warrior on his home planet, but he has a gentle way of making people believe they can trust him and the ladies swoon when he is near.

Girvan Lee is a criminal mastermind who seeks power and world domination. He has escaped sentencing on Krilia for attempting to take over the planet, but is not ready to give up hope and has set his sights on Earth for world takeover. Saber and Ryder will not leave until they have their alien in chains but Girvan isn't willing to give up so easily either.

E.V.E. is the computer that runs the space shuttle. She controls the environment and has state of the art voice recognition software. She is programmed to have a personality and to keep the travelers company but also makes synthesized food and controls every aspect of the shuttle and their travel.
****
SIREN PUBLISHING

Aliens are taking over the presidential election and only one human is immune to the mind control rays. The plate in Lily Madison’s head protects her from the criminal Girvan Lee’s mind control weapons, but she is stubbornly determined to find out what is going on, not even the sexy hunks dressed as Roman Gladiators will get in her way.

Ryder and Saber are intergalactic bounty hunters. They believe the human woman, Lily is their life mate but she is resistant to their charms and attempted seduction. The stubborn woman doesn’t believe she can have them both in her bed but they must have the patience to claim their mate.

If that doesn’t work, they aren’t above abducting her to their home planet and seducing her into their shared bed.

This novel is now available at Siren Publishing

BIO:

Missy Lyons writes erotic romances for smart sassy women. She lives in Middle Tennessee with her family, two dogs, and a cat who thinks it is a dog. She is an obsessive Star Wars geek and loves all things dragons, aliens, and did she forget to mention hot men top of the list?

Missy is probably the most obsessed with the last item listed. Amazingly enough, hot men are featured in every one of her romance books.

Diamonds and Divas- Maggie Berkley

Please welcome Maggie Berkley today. And leave a comment with your email addy for a chance to win a $10 Starbucks Gift Card

I've always enjoyed mythology, even as a child. In fact, when I was in high school (many, many long years ago) I wanted to be a mythologist, because I loved history, mystery and myths. After all, behind every myth is a hint of truth. How did these stories become? What made a culture believe in them? How did nations that lived thousands of miles from each other, with no link with the rest of the world, have some of the same mythology?
Historians had found drawings of dragons in Britain, China and Mexico. Legends of people rising from the dead were found in Russia, Greece, Africa and India. Shapechangers were found in North America, France, Norway, Greece, Africa and Japan. Amazons were rumored, and even written about, in Greece, China, Africa and South America. There are so many different 'sightings' in so many different countries from historical times that you can't help but get a hint of wondering.

This subject was many a term paper in classes and my teachers (especially my English teachers) got to understand how my mind worked. Well, my fantasy of becoming a world known mythologist left me after I graduated, but the myths remained a big part of my life via books, movies and television. After all, who can resist something shrouded in mystery? But my aspect of it was never romantic. The idea of a vampire 'wanting to find true love' made me chuckle. All the legends I found convinced me that, well, we're just food for them. After all, something that died, and then became inhabited by demons, just doesn't seem the 'loving' type. Shapechangers, especially werewolves, had me twisted on their mentality. Some were said to be cursed, some willingly spelled themselves into a beast to kill, and others were said to have been born into it.
As a writer you have to keep an open mind, and though my thoughts in the paragraph above might leave some wondering, I, like others, do enjoy a good paranormal romance novel. A good paranormal anything novel. And since I enjoy mythology I like writing that into my stories. After all, even the worst villain can always do with a bit of redemption and a taste of true love.
With the Morgan Crowe trilogy, I blended a bit of Irish myth with modern day life. The heroine of my story, is Morgan Crowe, also known as Morriganna or the Morrigu, a version of the battle goddess from Celtic mythology. I wanted to see what this dark goddess from the past was like, what her story might be and what made her who she was.
In the trilogy, Morgan starts out as a dislikeable, self-centered hot headed assassin who serves the King of the dark Sidhe known as the Mor'sin'dar. Because of her volatile nature and her inability to control herself she is banished to live in the human world because of a heinous crime she commits. She is not happy about her punishment but relents and leaves to mortal realms, much to the dismay of Mor'sin'dar's Queen who demanded the Morrigu's death.
Hundreds of years pass and Morgan has adjusted to life among the short lived humans although she yearns to return to the lands of her people. Finally accepting her lot in life, and adapting to the changes in the world around her, she finds herself  suddenly drawn back into Court politics and intrigue by a cryptic message given to her from an old ally from her days in the Mor'sin'dar. That is where her story begins.
The Morgan Crowe books are part of a trilogy, each representing, not only where she is at in the story but also where she is at mentally in her life. I see these books as the Morrigu's personal journey to redemption, the ability to sacrifice all for another. There are many twists and turns in the trilogy, and some victories are bitter sweet, and life is never easy for a retired Sidhe assassin from the dark Courts. But in the end, fixing the wrongs you had made and doing what is right has its own rewards.
I invite you to read the Morgan Crowe trilogy (Enter the Night, Behind the Throne, and Out of the ShadowedLands) and discover my twist on old mythologies. Who knows, you might decide to become a mythologist yourself one day.
