Welcome Rosanna Leo!

A treat today! Rosanna Leo is visiting to talk about her shifters. Welcome!

Thank you very much to LaVerne, my lovely hostess! I am thrilled to be here.

I’m here as part of my blog tour for my latest paranormal romance, Predator’s Refuge, Gemini Island Shifters 3. It’s been a wonderful experience, seeing how readers have responded to this fun and sexy series, and I look forward to penning a few more installments.
One might think writing a book 3 is a fairly simple task for an author, right? After all, you just pick up where the previous books left off. And in my case, each book always concerns a different couple, so I don’t need to worry about following the thread of one romance. However, it’s not as easy as you’d think.

There is a lot to consider as an author embarks on a next book in a series. Do the readers even want another story? Are they still invested in your characters? These are difficult questions every author needs to confront. I’m happy to see my readers have responded to the heroes and heroines I’ve created, and an interest is there.

And then you have previous plotlines to recall. Remember that minor character from book 1? Well, he might end up as the hero in book 3 or 4, so an author really needs to pay attention to the life she’s created for him. I know authors who keep poster boards in their writing spaces, detailing character histories and hook-ups.  And don’t forget all those seemingly unimportant details: jobs, family life, color of eyes, tattoos, shoe sizes.  I’ve read books where authors lose track of the hero’s eye color. Readers, especially faithful ones, will pick up on this. As authors, it’s our duty to remember how smart our readers are and to do the stories justice.

So does one dive right into a book 3 or 43? Not in my case. I always go back and reread what I’ve written in the series. I make copious notes, and burn the info into my brain. And I recheck and recheck and recheck.

I don’t think my characters would let me do it any other way.
I hope you get a chance to explore my Gemini Island Shifters series, and the world I’ve created there.

Blurb/Excerpt- Predator’s Refuge, Gemini Island Shifters 3 by Rosanna Leo

Blurb:

Lynx shifter Marci Lennox has worked at the shifter-friendly Ursa Fishing Lodge and Resort all her adult life. It’s more a home to her than a job. When her boss goes on vacation, putting her in charge, Marci is thrilled. Finally a chance to prove she has the mettle to run a resort.

Her confidence is shaken when new employee Anton Gaspar appears. One look at the mysterious tiger shifter spells trouble for Marci and for her sex-crazed lynx. Anton is judgmental, condescending, and a little misogynistic. Unfortunately, Marci’s lynx thinks his tiger is more delicious than an oversized bag of Maltesers.

It becomes difficult for Marci to remain neutral near Anton, especially when she learns of his troubling past and unusual family circumstances. However, when dangerous incidents occur on the resort, the lynx woman and tiger man join forces to combat the threat to the lodge and its guests.
Harder still is the quest to combat their explosive feelings for one another. As they explore their mutual passion, they realize the danger at the resort is more insidious than they ever envisioned. Their dreams, their love, and their very lives are at stake.

Excerpt:

Immediately, the fragrance hit him, activating his Jacobson’s organ. He swallowed, tasting it on his tongue and at the back of his throat, and wondered if he was mistaken.

No, how could he mistake the unique scent of a female cat in heat? It was too delicious a scent to forget. Sweetness coated his taste buds, winding a delirious path down his throat. As his head swam, he blinked and tried to clear his thoughts of the sexual imagery racing through it.

The scent did not belong to another tiger shifter, but some other type of predatory cat. One whose perfume he hadn’t sampled before. One who must be particular to this region. Cougar? No. Mountain lion? Surely not.

Whatever she was, her scent teased him with its delicious flavor.

Don’t, he warned himself. Wasn’t it enough that he spent the last few years of his existence trying to escape the sick wiles of the grasping women at court? And God only knew how hard he’d worked to maintain a state of abstinence at Pannonhalma, devoting his life to meditation. He’d come here to work, not lose himself in a sweet piece of…

Stop it. This was no time to think of pussy, even though he’d never been more desperate for a taste of creaming woman.

His tiger howled inside him, hungry for that which it had been denied for almost two years.
Still the perfume, more intoxicating than any he’d known, wafted toward him. He wanted to close his eyes and drink it in. The unyielding power of the aroma could make him forget his vows. Granted, he wasn’t really a monk, but he had followed the monastic lifestyle from day one at Pannonhalma. The purity in the monk’s life had been the very thing he’d required to get his life back on track.

So why did he want to find the source of the scent and fuck her until she begged alternately for mercy and for more? Her need seemed strong. Whoever this lady cat was, she must be in dire agony for her scent to be so powerful.

None of his business.

Mentally caging the growling tiger inside him, he shook his head and approached the front desk. He dropped his luggage and cleared his throat at the woman working there. Her head had been down as she read some reports, but she looked up now.

“Welcome to the Ursa…” Her jaw fell open and her sentence hung in the air, unfinished and clearly forgotten.

Well, well. A beautiful little lynx.

A discussion about my writing...at least today.

1) What am I working on?
Well the question should be, what should I be working on? lol I'm supposed to be working on new work today. A sci/fi new adult work called Shadow War . It's about two aliens who were hidden here on earth at an early age they look human, but don't realize they're not. But instead I'm working on the edits for a high fantasy story, Journey Of The Princess Of Ice- The Elementals, which will be re-released, fingers crossed, in Mar. 2014. It's the story of a race of elementals but it focuses on a race of ice elementals. I've got 4 books planned in the series and each will feature different elements and heroes and heroines but the stories will all involve, Ice, the heroine.

2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?
The work I'm currently editing is different because it involves unusual creatures. I've created a world where the elements are alive, represented as a race of beings and magic is normal. Earth, fire, wind, and water will all be represented in this story, but with a twist. For instance, the water element is frozen water so ice, and demons are the fire elements. This is not earth or a contemporary world, but one I created from my imagination. There's no technology, as we know it there. It's primitive by any standard, think middle ages where travel is done on foot, horse or other magical creature, or sometimes for those with the knowledge, via portals. The other thing that differs is even though it's fantasy work it's interracial/multicultural, because each pairing will be with a being of a different race with their own issues, stereotypes and prejudices.

3) Why do I write what I do?
I actually write in multiple genres. I believe it's one reason I don't get writer's block (knock on wood). I write contemporary, fantasy and sci/fi under LaVerne Thompson and romantic suspense and new adult under Ursula Sinclair. Although I will not discount some crossover work. lol I write because I must.

4) How does my writing process work?
For the most part I get an idea sometimes as little as a title and I write. I let the characters voices guide me. So I'm predominantly a pantser. I rarely do outlines and if I do it's rough like the names of the characters, powers, settings and a few main scenes. I've written work where I wrote the prologue and then the end. Then had to go back and write the rest of it. lol I've also started with a scene in the middle. In my Ballerina Series Book 1 started with the ballerina's fall and the rest of the story was built around that one scene. lol

The Impossible Possible by Deatri King-Bey

Book Into: The Impossible Possible by Deatri King-Bey

One of the reasons I love romance so much is taking the common themes and doing something completely different with them. My favorite traditional romance theme has always been the baby daddy theme. In it the heroine hides the fact that she’s had the hero’s child from him. Then years later, they meet again and he discovers the secret! Yeah, I love that one. In my new title, The Impossible Possible, I decided to switch it up a bit. This time the hero hides the fact that he’s the heroine’s son’s father. Hmmm, impossible you think? After you read The Impossible Possible, let me know what you think.

The Impossible Possible
Bryanna Martin has given up on finding her happily ever after. The only way she’ll fall in love and marry is if God sends her Mr. Right to her door. Since she doesn’t believe that will happen, she devotes her life to her adopted son and career. Then the impossible happens, the perfect man literally shows up at her door. Drawn to the handsome stranger, Bryanna wonders if this is one impossible that can become possible.

Alejandro Montenegro, CEO of a Global 500 corporation, dropped everything to catch a flight and claim a son he didn’t know about. When he arrives, he discovers his child is not in foster care being abused, but in the loving care of a golden goddess. To spare his son from losing the only mother he has ever known, Alejandro decides to remain silent about his son’s paternity and pursue Bryanna, but then the impossible happens. He falls in love and knows she will leave him if she discovers his secret.

Stephanie Williams Newest Release

Please welcome the Author Who Dabbles In Erotica, and my good friend Stephanie Williams. Steph thanks for answering these questions today about your latest book Lectures In Discipline and telling the readers what they want to know. Ready? Here we go.

1. Lectures In Discipline ventures into a new area for you. Can you tell the readers a little about why you decided to write a story in the BDSM genre?

Wow. To be perfectly honest, the more books I read, the more fascinated I got about the whole world of BDSM. It’s something how these couples put so much trust into each other that they engage in things that you and I might consider a bit—out of the norm.

Now, some of us engage in some sort for of BDSM, for example playing cops and robbers and using handcuff. That’s role-play. But BDSM can take it a bit further and ironically it’s called ‘play’.  So the more I read, the more I wanted to write my own story. I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could successfully write about an unconventional relationship in a loving and honest way.

2. Did you do any research? The truth. We want to know. lol

LOL. Like I mentioned earlier. I read a lot of books. Some were hardcore BDSM, others were softer, a bit tamer you might say. I looked at sites on the Internet too. I asked a couple that’s in the life, in fact I make a dedication to them. Come to think of it, I was a lot like Tina in the book.  Curious and looking for answers. LOL.

3. Peter was a very interesting Dom. A nerdy professor on the outside but behind closed doors he was well...something entirely different. Who was your inspiration for him?

Now that is real interesting. He’s actually a professor I know. I went to a lecture of his years ago. He was nerdy looking, but yet sexy. And I would sit there and wonder: “Yeah, he looks like a nerd, but I bet he’s Batman at night, or he’s tying up women in his basement. LOL.

It’s the classic, it’s the ones that you don’t suspect that are the freaks! LOL!

4. Have you ever been handcuffed? (thought I'd sneak that one in lol)

I so plead the 5th. LOL

5. Tina was also an interesting character. Did you have a muse for her too?

She is a composite of a lot of women. I think somewhere deep inside, women like the man that beats his chest and says: “Me man, you woman.”  So she has that need, but takes it to another level with the BDSM aspect.

She’s a woman in power, she owns her own business and goes back to school after a long hiatus, but she wants that Masters because she wants to teach. She has a lot on her plate and she’s willing to give up some sort of  control behind closed doors.

6. Tina in her everyday life doesn't come off as a submissive. Do you think women are just by nature submissive?

Like I said earlier, I think it’s primal. Especially now in this day and age. We as women have more on our plate. We have an ‘S’ on our chest and so many people depend on us. So I think it’s natural that we want to give up some control and have someone to take some of that control.

7. Can you explain a little about the dom/sub relationship for those who don't have a clue?

Whoa. I don’t think I’m a scholar on that subject, but I’ll try to explain what it’s not.
It’s not one person beating someone into submission. It’s not humiliation for humiliation sake. It’s not having someone being a slave 24/7. It’s not making one fear the other and making them do things out of  that fear.

What it is, is a loving, trusting relationship where consenting adults engage in play and feed off each other. One giving over control and the other taking that control but not abusing the trust.

Does it include spanking and paddling? Yes. It also includes, needle play, medical play, and wax play. One can take it as far as they want, but that agreement is between the parties involved and it’s understood, not to stray unless they have a meeting of the minds.

8. Have  you ever been to a BDSM Club?

No, but I have read about them, and some people that are in the life have told me about them. I do plan to make a trip to one, however.

9. Chains or Rope?

Chains. Rope makes me itch. LOL!

10. Anything else you'd like to let us know, like your next work?

Well, first, Peter and Tina are planning on giving individual interviews. So look out for them, I’ll announce them on my Facebook page.  Also, Lectures In Discipline is part of the Freaky Geek Series. My next book is titled Office Play. It’s about that IT guy in the office. This one’s not the geek you think he is either. LOL

11. Where can you fans reach you?

Lectures in Discipline
BLURB:
There’s something dark and dangerous lurking beneath the nerdy exterior of Professor Peter Greenly, and Tina Kelly has a need a man like that could fulfill, but graduation comes and goes without him noticing the willing co-ed in his Sociology class.
Returning to Piedmont College as an associate professor, Tina takes her destiny in hand and lets her former teacher know she’s interested in learning a whole new subject. One she’s only read about in books and on the Internet.
Professor Greenly has waited two and a half years for this, and agrees to her request, but if Tina wants this Dom’s private tutoring, she’s going to have to go far outside her comfort zone. His kind of teaching cannot be found on any college syllabus. But will he take her too far?

EXCERPT:

“I like your necklace. As usual, it’s a bit over the top.” He reached over and flicked the chains. They bounced heavily on her collarbone.
“Thanks. I bought it this weekend.”
“Nice.”
He ran his hand up and over the piece. He seemed to be studying it; committing it to memory. His fingers then made contact with her skin. She sucked in her breath as his fingers sent electricity to her flesh.
“You okay?”
His voice took on that deep huskiness that made her panties wet every time. All she could do was nod.
“Good.” He walked around to the other side of her desk. Hands on his hips as he looked down at her.
She was shaking. “Um…I picked this up to match a few outfits I have.” Damn! Why couldn’t she just come right out and say she bought it for him? For him to admire on her neck; an offering of herself to him as it were.
“I see. Strange choice of jewelry. But who am I to critique women’s fashion.” He turned up the wattage on that smile.
She laughed nervously and turned back to her computer. “Have fun at your conference. I’m scheduled to go next week, so you can give me a—”
“I like that padlock. Does it have a key?”
Her hands froze over her keyboard. “Ex…excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
Not taking her eyes off his steely gaze, she reached down for her purse, and then got the key out of her cosmetic case.
Without a word, he stuck out his hand and she gently placed it in his palm. He took it without looking at it and put it in his pocket.
“I take great notes, so I got you covered. These meetings are very boring, they usually go over the next quarters’ agenda.”
He didn’t skip a beat. Instead of saying something, she just went along with the conversation. “They start this early talking about next quarter?”
“Yep, in fact, by the end of this week, you should have the schedule for the classes you’re teaching emailed to you. You can get a hard copy, plus other materials from the office later.”
“Wow. Okay then.”
He smiled at her, then turned to leave. Once he got to the door he stopped and turned around to face her one more time. “By they way. Don’t wear that collar again until Friday.”

Loving Day Blog Tour

When it comes to relationships our society has come very far, but we still have a ways to go to truly embrace the concept that love can come in many different sizes, many different shapes, colors and forms.

I write contemporary, fantasy and sci/fi romances featuring interracial characters. I also write romantic suspense and new adult under Ursula Sinclair. I believe among consenting adults, no one has the right to tell you or dictate who you should or shouldn't love or indulge with for mutual satisfaction. lol What I  try to showcase in my work is the loving relationships that can exist between a man and a woman really have nothing to do with race, but who that person is inside. Love should be about who you are as a person and not what society perceives you to be. My stories don't make race an issue, because it should not be one in the affairs of the heart. Is that everyones reality? Probably not, but it is mine and the way I like to write my romances. I usually have too many other issues going on. lol

For me the color of love is not just one color but the colors that you see when the sun hits water just right and those colors arch up to touch the sky. Two things necessary for that effect is sun and water. Just as in a relationship all that's required is those individuals trying to establish one. All others merely need to butt out.

In tribute to the Lovings and their legacy, my work honors you.

Dragon's Heart Story of the Brethren- A fantasy interracial romance

Maya Trent was abandoned on Earth, apparently human but so much more and unaware of her duel heritage. Once Draakar awakens her dragon within all she wants to do is kill him. Decisions Decisions

My youngest daughter is in an interesting dilemma. She got into every school she applied to, College of Charleston (don't know why she applied here), Boston University, Tulane, Fordham, University of Virginia, and Georgetown. She's narrowed them down now to UVA and GT. Of course her dad and I are insisting on UVA. It's only about 2 hours from home and you can not beat in-state tuition. UVA is also an excellent school ranked NO. 1 or 2 of best public universities in the country and ranked NO. 24 over all. Yes GT is ranked higher but the quality of the education she'll receive at UVA is just as good. Plus she wants to go to law school so she can always go to GT then. Still at times I think what the hell do you mean my baby is old enough to start college in the fall! What frigging nightmare is this!

We didn't have the same issue with my oldest. She knew exactly where she wanted to go. She applied early decision to one school got in and by Dec. we were done. All good. Although I was in denial then too right up until we dropped her at school. But they're two different people so two different problems.

So again we enter into a different stage of our family life. The dynamics of the family has changed with my oldest away at school and it's getting ready to change again when the youngest leaves. These are exciting times for my daughters as well as my husband and me as we watch our children fly.

The trick for me will be in letting go. So far I'm not doing too badly. They managed to talk me into letting them go parasailing. For the second time. The first time it took 30 minutes of arguing. This time they're two years older and it only took ten minuets. Plus the oldest didn't need my permission. But I didn't feel faint this time when I watched them in this shot. Let me explain, you see when I look at them I see them as they are in the shot above. So can you blame me.
