My fingers curled into the twisted
sheets. I’d been suffocating from sheer terror. I took deep breaths before
opening my eyes. It had been a long time since I’d had that vivid a dream. Years
in fact, usually my dreams were about feelings of abandonment, loneliness, not
quite so dark. So real. Because these weren’t dreams, but memories. Real
nightmares from my past. Now I had had them two nights in a row. What the fuck!
Thank God, I didn’t let Christy come home
with me tonight. I shouldn’t have let her stay with me last night, but I’d been
so damn lonely lately. I tried to make it clear to her there was nothing more
between us other than two people scratching an itch. I didn’t give a shit that
she sometimes screwed other cast members, we weren’t dating. Still, I scared
the shit out of her when I woke her up in the middle of the night screaming.
When she asked what was wrong, I lied of course, and told her just a nightmare,
and I couldn’t even remember what it was about. Not hardly. She and I shared
the physical, not the emotional. These nightmares came from a place deep
inside of me. I shared with no one.
I thought I
conquered this fear a long time ago. That and the psychiatrist bills said I
had. In truth, I’d conquered it on my own, this memory of the haunted woods and
a lost little boy. Well, partially on my own, I had a little help from my dad
and a friend who gave me the tools to deal with it. I am a man now, and I had
overcome this. I’d done it by learning all about the outdoors. So, I thought I
had put this particular terror behind me. Fuck!
Hello LaVerne. I’m so glad you’re willing to have me on your blog. At least brave enough to have me on. LOL.
Let me introduce myself. I’m Madame TrripleX. The triple X is no accident. What I write is not for the faint of heart. I know that sounds cliché, but it’s true.
My writing can only be described as: raunchy, graphic, borderline porn and somewhat like a men’s confession letter, but with a little woman’s touch. So yeah. I write raunchy works that a man can read and not feel that he’s reading a romance novel and a woman can read something, that maybe is past her comfort zone, but she’s willing to step out of the box.
So what is my work like and why do I write stories that are considered borderline porn?
I don’t believe the hype that men are the only ones that are visual creatures and like their reads dirty. There are some of us (raising hand) that kinda like it graphic.
What kind of woman will like my work?
The woman that gets off on porn videos either with her significant other—or by herself.
The woman that loves sex toys and can go into a shop and buy them without wearing dark sunglasses.
The woman that likes the sounds of sex, Yes! Do you get wet hearing a woman moan and groan as she’s being made loved to?
Do you like hearing a woman scream out her pleasure? For some that’s a turn on.
If you’re nodding your head to any of the above, then you’ll like my work.
Now, what made me start writing stories like this? I saw a niche.
I’ve been noticing that a lot of woman that have been reading erotica said it’s begining to be the same old same old.
Really? I’ve read a lot of erotica/ romantica and hot steaming romances, and a lot of it is quite good.
But that wasn’t exactly what these women were talking about. Noooo. The sex was the same. Even the BDSM stuff! WOW!
So I asked: “What are you looking for?” I was surprised—somewhat. I found out that they wanted their sex scenes a bit more graphic. They wanted the language to be a bit—rougher. They wanted to almost feel the sex as they read it.
Those words that were mostly forbidden to describe body parts. They wanted to see those now.
They wanted their reads to read like Hustler!
What’s too raunchy? Of course there are the usual no-nos. You know the ones on those submission pages that tell you what they don’t want to see or accept. And actually those aren’t raunchy, that’s just tasteless and icky.
What I write is fun nasty.
Do my stories have plots?
Of course! In fact ULTIMATE SURRENDER has a real good plot. Just because I use nasty language and my sex scenes are graphic, doesn’t mean I don’t deal with loving couples.
And that’s the way real sex should be. One should be able to express themselves to their mate unashamed and with abandon without feeling guilty. And ULTIMATE SURRENDER deals with that issue.
Hey, I enjoy sex. I think it’s fun and it can be nasty, but in a good way. I love to let loose and scream from the rooftops. I want to have that kind of sex that if you’re at the hotel, the people in the next room complain to management. But you don’t care, cause you know you had a good time. WINK WINK.
And that’s how I write my books and I hope you read them with the same kind of abandon and guilt free.
Ever since I was young, my imagination took me to wondrous
places in far off lands with castles and fairies, even a few dragons.I fought alongside Red Beard on a
pirate ship. I climbed the highest peaks in Tibet. My dreams took me to ancient
Rome and into the farthest reaches of the galaxy.I loved to daydream of so many different things, places, and
people. I learned that through reading new worlds opened up so I became an avid
reader of all genres and spent hours even in the summer at the public library.
My imaginings also brought out my creativity, which I expressed in a myriad of
mediums.
I started out drawing and doodling throughout the day, even
during school, which is not easy when you go to a small Catholic school. My
love of art bloomed in elementary school and I started working with paint
instead of pen and ink. In high school, I even won a few awards for several art
projects and still to this day, I have many of those pieces hanging about my
home. During that time, I
experienced fluctuating emotions like any teen though at the time I felt that
only I understood such suffering (such as we all do).I dealt with the swirling emotions and feelings of
self-doubt through a new medium, poetry.I wrote stanza after stanza, pouring out my pain onto the page. The
words expressed my deepest thoughts I felt I couldn’t share with the world. I
also became an insatiable reader of poetry but the greats such as Poe, Stein,
and Plath. The summer I graduated,
I was able to attend Oxford University in England for a summer session where I
developed my love of photography.
Though I continued to write poetry, draw, paint, and take
photos, when my son was born, I dedicated my time to finishing my education and
taking care of him. Deep in my heart, I always wanted to write a book as my
thoughts always followed a marvelous path weaving through valleys and caves,
dungeons and clouds. My greatest accomplishment remained one solitary published
poem, Fairy Dance. In the fall of 2010, I forced myself to read for pleasure as
over the years previous, I had read mostly schoolwork. (apparently there is a
lot of reading in a PhD program – who knew?)
I fell upon role-playing on Facebook. Now, in my teens, I was
a devoted Dungeons and Dragons player, so I thought what fun and escape form
work/school/mother continuum. I started with a group and met some wonderful
(and not so) people. One of those
people was LaVerne Thompson. She took me under her wing and encouraged me to
write. After convincing me to submit a story for inclusion in a Christmas
anthology, I decided that I would spread my wings and soar to achieve this
lifetime goal of being a published author. I received my wish in December of
2011 when A Special Christmas anthology came out with three of my friends
(LaVerne Thompson, Scarlet Hunter, and Eve Tesoro)
My story, A Wolf of the
Frozen Sea, is a paranormal romance about a wayward human that finds himself in
love with a not so normal female. This moment was one of the proudest in my
life to share one of my stories with the world and do so with friends!
Now that I have my feet wet, oh it is on! I wrote a sequel to
my first story and Frozen Hearts released on May 31, 2012.I am working on a few pieces from
several genres like a Sci-Fi and more romance. Currently, I am working on a
full-length novel series with an awesome coauthor, Andie Michaels that should
have the first book releasing at summer’s end. This story follows a vampire
warrior struggles to deal with the loss of his beloved mentor while searching
for an ancient artifact that can save or destroy the vampire race. The
unexpected happens when he meets a guardian angel. Let’s just say that things
get interesting for pair and those chasing them….
This journey brought the daydreamer home to her world of
fairies, knights, monsters, and the like. I know this trek is far from over and
I am honored to be able to take it with incredible friends.I would love to have you join along
with me…

Please welcome my close friend and author Scarlet Hunter as she talks about her latest. Heaven's Sacrifice.
I’m so glad to be here today, LaVerne! I’m a HUGE fan of
your work, so for you to have me here, I’m overly excited and still pinching
myself.
You are too funny, glad to have you here. And ditto lady. mwah. LaVerne
So, tell me a little
about your book, Heaven’s Sacrifice.
Sure. Percival, the hero in my book, is an angel who’s
finally given his first assignment. To go to earth and save a human soul.
However, when he gets there, he is put to the test by two sisters. At first, he
can’t decide on which sister is in need of saving. Spending time with the two,
he learns they both do, but in different ways. Only in time, he realizes which
one he must save. And yet, he is pulled toward the other putting him at risk of
failing his mission. The outcome, should Percival fail in saving the one he is
assigned, will result in him losing an angels most cherished possession—their
wings.
So…basically, he must decide…but who will he choose to save?
Tell us a little more
about these sisters?
Well, they couldn’t be more different, let me tell ya. They
are—Brianna and Ava. They help their uncle run a Beachfront condo resort in
Kure Beach, North Carolina. When unfortunate circumstances occur and their
uncle gets ill, it is up to them to help keep the resort stay up and running.
Brianna, younger sister to Ava. A flamboyant, wild and
arrogant girl. This young lady needs a little lesson in life, amongst other
things. She’s too hell bent on getting any and all the men’s attention rather than
helping her sister around the resort.
Ava, on the other hand, is the total opposite of her sister.
Quiet, shy, yet loyal and trustworthy. She takes on a lot of responsibility focusing
on helping her uncle; not wanting to let him down. She ends up taking care of everyone
and everything, except one person—herself. She needs saving, but in a whole different
way.
I’d love to share a little teaser, if I may?
Excerpt:
Materializing on earth, Percival appeared and
stood on the sand, next to a long worn-out catwalk. He scanned the countless
planks of rotten wood. They undoubtedly needed some TLC in more ways than one.
By the looks of the property surrounding it, the newspaper ad was spot on. A
skilled handyman was needed for this kind of job.
For a moment, he savored the calming, therapeutic waves crashing on shore. The
sound felt like an explosion of love over the soul. Percival prayed with
thanks, glad his mission had brought him near the Atlantic Ocean.
Lifting his foot, he placed it on the edge of the catwalk and putting some
weight on it, wiggled his leg a few times on the board to ensure it would hold
him. Convinced it would, he placed his full weight on the plank and noticed the
whole length of the catwalk was covered with pieces of slivered wood, poking
out from its depleted state. Thankful his sandals protected his feet, he
proceeded toward the building.
In the heavens and before leaving, the angels were normally briefed about their
assignments. Yet, Percival wasn’t given specifics for his mission. He certainly
would not question the lack of information, because in Heaven, one never asked
questions but is grateful for the facts received. If God thought angels needed
to know more, he made sure they did.
Everything has a purpose.
When he advanced, he inspected the building. Percival could tell it’d been
constructed of the same wood as the catwalk and in the same dire need of
attention. As his gaze skimmed up and across its surface, he imagined the
structure probably appeared very elegant back in its day, yet now seemed in
disrepair.
Unexpectedly, a squeal came from behind him, catching him off guard. Percival
turned to find a small boy pointing at him while tugging at his father’s swim
shorts. Funny, how he hadn’t even noticed them when he arrived. He needed to be
more careful and assess his surroundings first.
“Look Pa. That man has wings!”
Oops, forgot about
you two back there. Percival willed his thick, colossal set of feathery, white wings
to fade from the mortal eye. He then nodded at the father and winked at the
boy, who now displayed a saddened expression.
“I swear, Pa, he did—just like the Archangel.”
The father took the boy by the hand and led him toward their car. “Not everyone
is a comic book character, son. C’mon, let’s go home.”
Relieved his carelessness didn’t require him to handle the situation further,
Percival watched the two leave.
The boy’s face remained glued to the passenger window of the SUV until they
were out of sight. No doubt, waiting and hoping for the set of wings to
reappear.
Cracking a smile at how he loved the Children of God, Percival returned his
attention to his task. He reached into the front pocket of his jeans. After
pulling out a piece of torn paper, he glanced at the newspaper ad, then at the
building. Confirming the numbers 882 barely hanging above the door’s entrance,
he double-checked the name Ava, he’d written under the job qualifications. When
she answered his call, the sound of her voice sang like church bells. Soft and
angelic, it carried the slightest hint of a twang he’d never heard before. He
sensed right off, she was unique by the way she spoke to him. Percival liked
her instantly and looked forward to meeting her.

I want to thank
LaVerne for having me over today. This book is a big deal for me, andI love giving the inside story about
it. They say you have to continue to challenge yourself in your career. Believe
me when I say, Spun was a challenge. When I first started writing back when I
was about fifteen, I knew I wanted to write Paranormal Young Adult Romance.
When I sat down to seriously write almost 15 years later, what came out was
anything but suitable for young adult. Despite my muse’s pension for liking
things on the naughty side, I held out hope of one day returning to my first
love. Then an incredible thing happened, New Adult.
Spun is my very first
step into that world. Nevada is a young woman who grew up in the M.C.
(motorcycle club) culture. With a self-centered mother, and an absentee father,
she’s had no one but herself to depend on. Then she winds up in a situation
that requires protection from a brother, and in steps Wizard. I loved Wizard,
he was strong alpha male, who knew how and when to bend. Sensitivity might not
have come easily to him, but he was willing to learn to keep the relationship
developing with Nevada moving forward.
You’ll find a lot of
twists, turns, and high emotion in this novel length contemporary romance.
Blurb
Born to a King of Chaos patch holder with a case of
wanderlust and a self-centered mother, twenty-one-year-old Nevada Weber is used
to taking care of herself. She's spent her life skating by on her wits and pure
determination. When she lands in a situation, she can’t haggle her way out of,
she’s forced to rely on another brother for help.
Club enforcer Gage “Wizard” Carmody has done his
job too well over the years. Icy and numb on the inside, he walks around in a
prison of his making. When the bright green-eyed girl he helped raise winds up
unclaimed and in need of protection he steps in seeking redemption. In a life where destruction lurks around the
corner, they discover something with the potential to bring healing and
happiness. But when you live in Chaos nothing goes as planned.
Shyla Colt grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, but has lived a variety of
different places thanks to her wanderlust, interesting careers, and marriage to
a United States Marine. She's always loved books and wrote her very first novel
at the age of fifteen. She keeps a copy of her first submission letter on her
desk for inspiration.
After a lifetime of traveling, she settled down and knew her time had come to
write. Diving into her new career like she does everything else, with
enthusiasm, research and a lot of prayers, she had her first book published in
June of 2011. As a full-time writer, stay at home mother, and wife, there's
never a dull moment in her household.
She weaves her tales in spare moments and the evenings with a cup of coffee or
tea at her side and the characters in her head for company. A self-professed
rebel with a pen. Her goal is to diversify romance as she continues to genre
hop, and offer up strong female characters.

Before I even start this, I have to give a shout out to one of the best cover designers in the business and the people who made these beautiful covers possible. I gave Fiona Jayde the concept for my creatures, found the models, Jimmy Thomas shot by Bruce Heinsius, Shannon Robinson shot by Rob Bampton, and Adam Fletcher shot by FuriousFotog aka Golden Czermak. Then look what Fiona came up with. She FRIGGING ROCKS! So do the models and photographers! Creating a feast for the eyes combination. Okay on to post. lol
Most authors are asked how do you come up with your ideas? I
think the better question is, what gives you inspiration? Most ideas have been
done, but these in turn inspire you to push a little more. Stray outside of the
lines and change the colors of the palette. Hell, change the style of brush.
That’s what I did with this series.
I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of mermaids. Seriously,
most people with little girls know the story of The Little Mermaid, Ariel. But, stories of mermaids with tails in the sea yet able to walk on land with two legs, predates even that
beloved movie. Thus, was my inspiration for Children of the Waves, the idea of people of the sea, but changing the lore to not just those who can walk on land but also in the
water. In other words, my sea people don’t have tails, fins, gills, etc. I thought, why
should they? Now this concept too has been done, don’t ask me by whom, I can’t
remember off the top of my head, but it has.
Anyway, I needed to bring something a little different to
my sea people. For one thing I don't refer to them as mermen/mermaids. I call them Sea Children or Children of the Waves. Mine are the sons and daughters of Poseidon, Greek, since he’s in charge
of all things in the deep blue seas (as opposed to Neptune, Roman). But I still
needed something to make my story stand out. So I created cousins, if you will in my own mind,
between mermaid lore with The Wizard of Oz. lol yep. My story won’t have one
witch but two. Sisters. The good witch and the bad witch. The Sea Witch and her
sister The White Witch. I liked the idea of the white witch being the bad one.
*grins* And of course there is always a quest, bad guys, and evil creatures. And in my books a few fight scenes. lol Oh and a little sex. *winks*
From that point I kept the Greek aspects of the story, but tossed in the concept of Hades to the mix. Why not? I added a few more specifics I
won’t mention here. You have to read the books. *grins* But to spice things up
even more. Well, you know how mermaids/mermen can seem kinda young? I began
writing the first book when my kids were about 13 and 14, yes puberty (they're in college now). So I
made that part of the story, the angst of being an eternal teen. They were driving me nuts at
that time, wanting to be older faster. And me holding them back.
My Sea Children only age until they are thirteen or
fourteen, remain in that physical state for years, sometimes over a hundred
years. Yikes! The horror. Can you imagine? Yep, I could. I did. My creatures
stay that way until they meet their fated brides or mates. At which point, when they touch, even if only by hand, a
chemical reaction happens between them. Only
then does the aging process kick in again and they begin to age. Thus, they’re
referred to as Children because they seem to be forever young. The kicker is
they might not always know who triggered the aging process or even exactly when
it started. And believe me they want to know. Why? I will leave you on this
note. Only their bride or mate can trigger an orgasm. *wicked grin*
Oh and yes. There is a book 4 Sea Child. hehehehehe there is a snippet at the end of Sea Witch.
SEA WITCH-
Children of the Waves #3
COMING
06/01/2015
What the hell do you mean I
can't claim you?
Aaron
is a Child of the Waves and he's searched for his bride for over a hundred
years. Always seeking never finding. Then when he finally does, he’s got a
choice: claim her and risk the destruction of his people, or let her go and
risk the destruction of his soul.
Sienna
has always known who her mate was, in fact, she took great pains to never cross
his path. Until one day, she could avoid him no longer. As the witch of the
sea, she had to warn him of the horror their world would face if she were to
become his bride.
They
each had a duty to perform, even at the sacrifice of the other. Sienna must
pass through the dark depths to enter the very gates of Hades and Aaron must
let her go.
For 200 some years Xavior, a child of the waves, has searched
the seven depths for his bride only to find her on land. How could a landwalker
be his Queen, the one destined to stop the wars among the sea tribes? But one
touch and he knew he'd defy Poseidon himself to make her his.
Cori Daniels hated the water; she'd been on
board the luxury ocean liner for 2 days and hadn't left her cabin. But when she
finally ventured on deck she met a man who looked like a sea god and tempted
her like no other. But he tempted her to follow him into the sea.
For so long Des’ life was a lie. She had to hide who she
really was from the world. Her survival and that of her family depended on her
continuing those lies. But it was never harder than when she had to lie to the
man she loved.
She was lying to him. Zek knew the woman in his
house, in his arms was the bride he’d searched for all of his existence. But as
a son of Poseidon nothing and no one would stop him from claiming that which
was his.
Jackson Belle, the son of a prominent family of landscapers
and architects whose work has been the “Showcase of the South”, goes to take
what he thinks is a routine job for his father who is soon in bed after a fall.
He soon finds himself going to Gladstone Manor, a home well known in town as a
house that once would host grand balls and parties for the town. But is nothing
more than a shell of its former glorious self. Soon Jackson finds himself
diving deep within the mystery of Gladstone Manor and its owner Brooke Langley.
Brooke Langley’s life at Gladstone Manor at one time was
wonderful and she enjoyed the many memories she had as a child, watching the
many people coming to the parties and balls that her parents would give. But a
tragic accident leaves Brooke in seclusion, afraid of what the world outside of
the Manor would think of her now. It isn’t until Jackson Belle comes into her
life and shows her that someone does care that slowly starts to come out to the
world and soon finds true love as well.
“Let me ask you this, do you remember Mr. Langley’s
daughter?”
“You mean, Brooke,” Jackson’s mother interjected as she
came in with a tray holding Howard’s lunch.
“Brooke, that’s her name, right?”
“Oh yes, I remember Brooke, she was such a sweet child.
Always smiling and making everybody around her laugh. Such a beautiful child
with so much life in her until that evil woman of a stepmother messed her up. I
remember Walter was so heartbroken by what happened. He knew they didn’t get
along because they were like oil and water, they just didn’t mix well. She
hated Brooke because she was the apple of Walter’s eye and a constant reminder
of her late mother. She got more of his attention and her stepmother hated her
with a passion because of that. When she had the accident, her father had her
going to all kinds of doctors and surgeons, even sent her to Europe to see a
specialist who dealt with people in her situation. After Walter died, she
stayed in Europe for the longest time. Some people thought that she had passed
away but then one day, word got out that groceries and other things were being
delivered to the Manor.” She stared at the photo of Brooke by the fountain.
That entire day while at his father’s, they both worked on
the plans for the garden. He would go from his father’s work area to his father’s
bedroom to see what he thought of the plans so far.
“Sweetheart, you have a phone call. I think it’s from the
Manor,” Nancy said, popping her head in the room while Jackson drew on the
blueprint.
Picking up the phone, Jackson said, “Hello.”
“Hello, Mr. Belle, this is Brooke Langley calling,” a soft,
mellow voice said on the other end.
“Hello, Ms. Langley, it’s nice to finally hear from you.
How are you?”
“Fine, thank you, I talked with Nora and I just wanted to
see what your point of view on the condition of the garden.”
“Well, I will tell you that it needs plenty of work but
it’s a job that I look forward to starting. I am always up for a challenge. I
told Nora I wanted you to make a list of things you might want to see in your
garden. Have you started yet?”
“Yes, I have. I was trying to go by memory, but there’s
plenty I want to add. I have to say I’m pretty excited that this is being done.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the garden the way it was before.”
Her voice entranced Jackson. “I can come get the list from
you if you want. That way, I can show you what I have so far.” Jackson replied,
hoping she would agree to meet in person.
At first, he heard nothing and thought that maybe she hung
up the phone. “Hello? Are you there, Ms. Langley?”
“Yes, I’m still here. I don’t think it would be a good idea
to meet just yet. I can have Nora give you the list when you get here, if
that’s all right?”
“That would be just fine, Ms. Langley. But I do hope to get
the chance to actually see you one of these days, face to face.”
“Take care, Mr. Belle.” She hung up.
The conversation left Jackson with a sense of accomplishment
in what he’d done so far. Also, he felt curious, wondering who the woman behind
the voice was.
